Iemoto Akane was invited to the 13th Asian Regional Conference of
Ikebana International held in Taipei, Taiwan from November 13 to 15 and
performed a superb demonstration!
The demonstration started from the hanging work in collaboration with
local members. Subsequently, the Iemoto created eight small arrangements and
two request ikebana works with flower materials and containers selected by the
audience, before leaving the stage.
During the scene of the bamboo assembly by
the Sogetsu Atelier staff and bamboo split by the members, she changed her
costume from kimono to a light pants look and appeared on the stage again. The
Iemoto developed the large work abundantly using materials procured locally and
closed the performance. Thunderous applause erupted from the audience of over
500 people and there was no end of people who took photos of her gorgeous
creations.
In addition to this demonstration, Iemoto Akane conducted the two
workshops and displayed her work in the exhibition. We fully enjoyed the
interaction with a lot of I.I. members gathered from around the world including
Asia.
Taking time out from our busy schedule, we could appreciate the
culture, nature and, of course, gourmet foods of Taiwan!
It was really fulfilling eight days that we were deeply impressed
with the heart-warming hospitality of the people in Taiwan!
